Dallas Christmas Party Venue | Hosts Wendy’s Franchise and Staff

On Thursday December 15th from 6-9pm we held a company Christmas party for a Wendy’s franchisee and his staff. The weather was overcast and rainy all day with the possibility of clearing later in the evening.

At the time of boarding we were experiencing light rains and winds from the North at about 12 miles per hour.
The catering was provided by Whole Foods and there was a variety of non alcoholic beverages , tea and coffee and some frozen margaritas and pina coladas.

We set off raising the mainsail shortly after existing the marina. The winds were nice and brisk and had started to increase contrary to the forecast of about 10 miles an hour. The rain had stopped completely and we were on our way to the west end of the lake where I-35 crosses the lake.

As soon as we got into the main part of he lake the waves got bigger since they have several miles to gain momentum from the North. The catamaran rocked and rolled a bit  but in no time we were across with smooth sailing.
The dancing started and we had some great salsa music and dancers on board who entertained the spectators.  We sailed for another hour until it was time to head back. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful healthy food and music.
Now it was time to cross the open lake heading back to the marina. The wind had died down a bit but the waves were still steep.

We cruised comfortably across at about 8 knots. Our top speed of the evening was 10.5 knots.

This was an exciting evening with rain , wind and some lightening shows to the far north end of the lake.
A Christmas blessing was said and an appreciation speech given by the owner.

Christmas parties on BigDCats catamarans are always an adventure and never dull. We sail day or night so come try us for your next event and enjoy some great sailing right here in Dallas where we average 11 miles per hour of wind on a daily basis.

Christmas Party hosted by Big D Cats catamarans

On Wednesday December 14th from 5-8pm BigDCats catamarans hosted a Christmas party for the law firm of Neal, Ashmore and Killebrew. The weather was rainy but in the mid 60′s which is warm for this time of year.

The Christmas lights were shinning bright and the staff had boarded the catamaran. We had added additional water proof canopies to ensure that the guests would stay dry. Bursts of small rain storms were all around us. No lightening threat near us but plenty of great light shows in the distance.

The caterer tonight was Del Frisco’s steak House and everyone was excited to see and taste the gourmet meal so generously provided by the law firm.
Del Frisco’s provided a chef, two assistants and two servers. The appetizers , main dish and desserts were all made on the boat and served professionally.

The wind was blowing out of the south and the rain was still falling but the forecast called for gradual shifting from the south to the north by 9pm. Half way through the cruise the rain stopped and the wind shifted to the west. Then shortly thereafter the wind shifted to the north.

For the first time ever on Lake Lewisville I witnessed a thick fog similar to what you have in New England. All the lights along the shoreline began to disappear and before long we were cruising by GPS alone. Thankfully the GPS worked or else we would have had to stop in the middle of the lake and wait.

We had to navigate the narrow cut connecting lake lewisville with the old Garza Little Elm reservoir. The cut is only about 200 feet wide with a dramatic V shaped bottom so staying in the middle neceassary or one will run aground.

It was very mysterious and calming. We were the only boat on the lake and we were enjoying sensations that we had rarely encountered on the lake.

I had a few guests come steer the boat while we were sailing but the rain and the cold wind made them drop down to the enclosed area that was warm and cozy. The heaters and blankets kept all the guests warm. Hot tea and coffee were flowing as well as a variety of alcoholic beverages.

The adventure was almost over and it began with miserable weather but turned out to be a wonderful evening.
Hosting your next Christmas party with BigDCats is sure to be a hit and something everyone will talk about.
